Printed linings...


birds of leather linings are all printed on 100% pure cotton. Our first range uses a hand drawn bird motive which is inspired by vintage wallpaper which I had in my bedroom in Melbourne at the time I was designing this first range.





First I drew a single image....











...and then worked it into a repeat pattern which was then screen printed onto lengths of fabric to use inside the bags.













My dream is to develop these prints and begin to design seasonal prints. I like the idea that the bags will have a timeline within them. Whilst the bags themselves will remain a timeless style. Our first repeat print (wallpaper) will be our signature print and will be ongoing.

Made and printed in Australia, birds of leather began with a wish to create a range of Australian made bags which are quality, stylish, contemporary and classic, and which would make a fabulous accessory to a woman's wardrobe anywhere in the world.

birds of leather's first collection is inspired by vintage and second hand pieces from our own personal wardrobe, that have been collected over the years. They evoke a rustic Australian tone with contemporary style. The pieces are crafted in country Australia.

birds of leather has just launched our online store and we are now selling skylark satchel handbags in black for night-time shenanigans or for the office, and tan for daytime picnics and life on the farm. The bags feature hand screenprinted 100% cotton linings inspired by a vintage wallpaper design.
